“I just washed it. Why does the paint still feel like sandpaper?”

Brake dust, tree sap and overspray bond to the paint. Soap rinses off the dirt on top, not the stuff stuck in it. A clay towel lifts it in a few passes per panel.

How it works

Man washing his SUV in the driveway Clay towel on a pickup tailgate next to a spray bottle and bucket Clay towel after use, holding grime from the paint
  1. 1Wash and rinse the car like normal.
  2. 2Spray one panel with clay lube or soapy water.
  3. 3Wipe back and forth with light pressure. Rinse the towel when it looks dirty.

See it work

1. Feel it. Hand in a plastic bag. Rough means grit.
2. Clay it. Wet paint, light pressure.
3. Rinse it. Use it again.

Is this for you?

You wash your own car

The paint looks clean, but it feels rough under your hand. That's bonded grit and overspray that soap doesn't lift.

You've used a clay bar before

Same job, less hassle. No kneading, and if you drop it, you rinse it instead of throwing it away.

Honest limit: it removes contamination, not scratches. Swirl marks and deep scratches need polishing.

Questions

Do I need clay lube?

Yes. Lube is not included. Use any clay lube, quick detailer or soapy water on every panel. Never wipe dry paint, because that can leave marks.

Will it scratch my paint?

Used wet with light pressure on a washed car, it glides. If you drop it, rinse it well before you touch the paint again.

How often should I use it?

Most people clay two to four times a year. Run your hand over the paint inside a thin plastic bag. If it feels rough, it's time.

What do I do after claying?

Add wax or a sealant. Claying removes the old layer, so the paint needs protection again.

When does my order ship?

Orders ship within 1 to 3 business days, with tracking.
